What is "Pathways to Employment"?

'Highways' to Employment

The Pathways to Employment project recognises that, ultimately people need to take control of their own future, but the barriers can often be wholly debilitating and are frequently overlooked as trivial. Guilt, anger, anxiousness, frustration, blame, confusion - the highs, the lows. The struggle can often be 24/7, and so the need to fill the void with something that is worthwhile to you is vital. The project supports people (20 years +) who are recovering from and dealing with drug and alcohol misuse, by concentrating on and tackling the barriers one by one, we hope to make the way clearer for you to recognise new opportunities and improve your job prospects through education, learning, leisure and employment options. The main aims of the project are to help you to start or restart the learning process and in doing so equip you with the confidence, skills and abilities to support your independent living in the community; to access further education, training and enter or re-enter the employment market on an equal footing with the rest of the community. Support can be provided in a variety of ways, each way individually tailored to your needs and involves: confidence building, improving self value, core skills, soft skills and effective communication; motivational work, managing stress, realising potential; dealing with and understanding behaviour and attitude, moving forward safely; understanding benefit change, childcare, training... and more...
